Second “Outing “

After the withdrawal from Dunkirk, where he had a “rough passage,” Cpl. Frank Jeavons (22), son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Jeavons, of 53, Blythe Street, Wombwell, is again booked for foreign service and the family have not heard from him for several weeks.

An old boy of John Street Council Schools, Wombwell, Cpl. Jeavons previously worked for a building firm at Hoyland and joined up a month after the outbreak of war.

He was sent to France as a motor driver.

He is well remembered in football circles as a former player of Wombwell Main F.C., from whom he was transferred to Lincoln City.

Cpl. Jeavon’s brother, Mr. George F. Jeavons (29), has been an inspector of works for the government in Hong Kong for the past twelve months. He was formerly employed in the building trade in London.

Mr. F. Jeavons, senior, served four years in the last war and has been prominently associated with the British Legion at Wombwell, as also has Mrs. Jeavons.
