Prisoner in Benghazi.
The Vatican radio announced Aug. 17th that Q.M.S. Eric Haines, son of Mrs. G. Haines, of Bank Buildings, High Street, Wombwell, was a prisoner of war in Benghazi.
The name was mentioned among those of several British soldiers who sent love and best wishes to their families and friends at home. Subsequently the announcement was reproduced in the “Catholic Times.”
He had previously been reported missing.
Haines joined the Royal Tank Corps four years before the outbreak of war and had been in the Middle East for some time.
