Private George Ferneyhough (13th York & Lancs Regiment)

Private Arthur W Ferneyhough, writing to his parents at Gower Street, Wombwell, says: “I have been in pain and suffering this Christmas and New Year. I thought I was never going to see the dear old home again. I had a parcel for a

Christmas box from the K.O. S.B.’s funds. I receive my wounds by being hit with a flying sandbag when the Germans were shelling up, but I got out of it and am now in the dressing station with the bandaged head, but is nothing to worry about.

I am expecting coming home in a weeks time, but I think I’m one of the next four furlough.”
