Wombwell Man in Raids on Enemy

A Wombwell lad who will have an exciting story to tell when the war is over is Sgt. Chas. Cooper (22), son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hy. Cooper, of 228, New Lines, Greengates, Bradford, and grandson of Mr and Mrs. Chas. Cooper, of 107, Blythe Street, Wombwell.

Sgt. Cooper has been detailed for raids on coast line held by the enemy, He was with the party which effected a successful landing and raid at Lofoten, coming through without a scratch. On another raid he was wounded.

Sgt. Cooper spent his boyhood in Wombwell and Stairfoot, and is an old boy of Ardsley Oaks Schools. His father (now in the Home Guard) was disabled in the last war, and eventually moved to Bradford, where members of his family work in the mills

For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cooper were in business in Park Street, Wombwell.
