Mark Butterworth, son of Mrs. Lucy Butterworth, 8, Dyer Road, Jump, was called up with the first batch of Militiamen and is now a gunner in the Royal Artillery with the B.E.F.

Before joining up he worked at Earl Fitzwilliam’s Elsecar Main Colliery and was a well-known and popular member of the Jump Working Men’s Club and Institute.
