Landlord Serving

One of the Wombwell men known to be serving with the Eighth Army is Signaller Harry Brooks (34). landlord of the Ship Inn, Wombwell, for the past two years, and previously licensee of the Miners’ Inn, Ingham, Barnsley.

Signaller Brooks joined the Forces in November, 1940 and the following July was drafted to the Middle East. He has seen service in Syria, the Nile Valley and at Tobruk, and is now with the Eighth Army.

A keen follower of local sport particularly football, he has many friends who will be pleased to hear that he is in good health and spirits.
