Seven Years for Royal Engineers.
For seven years Sapper Tom Ashurst was working at a job of national service at Wombwell Foundry, when he felt the call to join the Army, and joined the Royal Engineers.
Not only the urgency of present day circumstances made its appeal, but Army life in general had attractions and he enlisted for seven years’ term of service. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ashurst, of 33, Wombwell Road. Platts Common.
He has now been with his regiment three months and his cheery letters indicate that he is very well and means to get on in the Army.
