Silver Badge Man’s Recall

Thomas Milburn, Wombwell miner, who had been arrested on military information, was charged at Barnsley, yesterday, with being a deserter.

Defendant, who has served six years in the Army, said he was discharged less than four months ago. He received a silver badge and a pension of 20s. per week.

The Chairman (Mr. C. Howard Taylor) said there was apparently some mistake. Defendant would be remanded for escort, but he hoped that he would come through all right.

The Magistrates’ Clerk advised Milburn to state his case to the military authorities
