Shipcroft in Another Final.

Monckton Athletic, who won the cup last year were beaten 3 – 2 at Dearne on Saturday by Shipcroft United. Monckton were without their two “star” forwards, England and Harris.

Monckton opened with a smart attach which ended with Peckett shooting over after Jackman had twice hit the woodwork. At the other end Gallear saved from North and Horsfield, but was beaten by JACKSON. Encouraged by this early success, Shipcroft pressed, Caunt, Bannister and North testing Gallear with good shots before Creighton put them further ahead. CAUNT completed a Jackson-Creighton-Horsfield move to net the third goal for Shipcroft.

Monckton rallied near the end, and CARTWRIGHT of Mansfield Town scored twice. Monckton made a great effort for the equaliser, Peckett, Broadbent and Cartwright having shots saved by Fenton.
