In Submarines
Petty Officer Clive Moore, (24), second son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moore, 2, Myrtle Road, Wombwell, an old boy of John Street Council School, has been serving in submarines for the past two years, and is one of the few Wombwell men in that branch of the Service.
Formerly employed as a fitter and boiler maker at Wombwell Main Foundry, he joined the Navy about three years ago and has seen a good deal of service with Russian convoys and in the North Atlantic patrols. Since the early part of this year, he has been in the Far East.
He married Miss Constance Bashforth, of Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot, and the birth of their first baby was announced recently in the “Times.” Before the war he was a Sgt. Drummer in the Wombwell Coy, of the Church Lads’ Brigade and later served in the Home Guard. His father served in France in the last war.
