Twelve Years In Navy

Petty Officer Sam Matthews (29), son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Foster, 6, Mellor Road, Wombwell, has just returned to duty after a well -earned leave. He has twelve months’ service to his credit, and during the present war has had his share of excitement on the seas.

He was at the River Plate at the burning of the Graf Spee, aad has since seen a good part of the world.

Petty officer Matthews an old boy of Kings Road Council School, Wombwell, and before joining the Navy worked at Cortonwood.
