The passing of Mrs Ellen Morse, widow of Capt Morse (merchant shipping) mother of Mrs H Morton Davy, of Milton Road, Hoyland, has occasioned regret to many friends in Hoyland and Wombwell, in which districts she was well known.
Mrs Morse was closely identified with the Roman Catholic churches in Wombwell and Hoyland. For several years she had resided with her daughter.
Born at Liverpool, she came to reside at Hoyland four years ago and part of the subsequent period she spent at Wombwell.
Quite in disposition, she had a charming personality.
Until a week ago she enjoyed general good health in spite of her 77 years.
Her death on Friday May 21st was due to heart failure.
