Record Season for Ship Inn

Teams and players in connection with Ship Inn, Wombwell, have secured a record crop of nine trophies this season. The trophies from left to right are:

Darfield Charity Football cup, Wombwell and Darfield Darts League cup, Wombwell Old Folk’s Summer League Darts cup, Beckett cup for darts, Carbrook and District individual darts cup (Mr. C. Weston), Clarkson cup for darts, Wombwell Darts League individual matches cup (Mr C. Weston). Wombwell and Dallied district darts league individual cupĀ  (Mr. E. Gamble), and the Beckett Football cup.

The two football cups were won by Shipcroft United F.C.

In the group are: (back), H. Freeman, C. Weston, A. Oliver, E. Gamble, F. Godfrey, A. Parker, F. Bannister, F. Ellis. (seated), W. Graham, Mrs. Frank Dyson, F Cooper, H. Lovell.

Most of these are darts players. Mrs. Dyson is wife of Mr, Frank Dyson, landlord of the Ship Inn. Godfrey is Shipcroft’s star centre forward and is a prolific goal scorer. Mr. Henry Lovell is secretary of the football club.
