Odds And Ends

Reg. Ward, Low Valley’s clever left winger, has attracted the attention of Halifax and will probably be fixed up by that club shortly. Ward is 19 years of age, weighs 11 stone and stands 5ft. 8ins. He is a brother of Charlie Ward, of Brampton.
Fred Tunstall, Halifax’s international forward, who hails from Low Valley, has seen Ward in action. and was very pleased with his performance.
Two more clubs, Hemsworth Rovers and Upton Juniors, were admitted to the South Kirkby League on Tuesday, bringing the membership up to 11, only one less than last season. It was reported that the Doncaster F.A. had appointed Mr. T. Froud, of South Kirkby. as secretary of the league in place of Mr. H. Higgins, of Doncaster, who is to be the league’s representative to the Doncaster F.A. in place of Mr. J. Prince. who has removed to Bentley.
Houghton Old Hall will commence their Barnsley Junior League programme tomorrow when they meet Darton Welfare. Houghton, who have only just been admitted to the competition, have done well in friendly games and Secretary Mitchell thinks the lads will continue to shine in league football.
