Wombwell Put Up Good Show Against the Forest.

Nottingham Forest Res  3  Wombwell  1

Wombwell had great difficulty in raising a representative team meet Nottingham Forest Reserves in Midland League fixture at Nottingham yesterday, and it was not surprising that they were defeated by three goals to one, but it must be said in their favour that with fewer opportunities than the home men they were good finishers, and found Ashton some difficult problems deal with.

Heslop scored two goals for Forest in successive minutes two-thirds through the first half, and Jones added a third early in the second period, while Briggs scored for Wombwell late in the game.

Wombwell gave a trial to Lakin, a young amateur right-winger from the Rotherham district, and the Forest included for the first time young Vasey, a left half-back signed from Consett, Durham.
