Notable Performance for Wombwell Main

One of the most notable performances in local cricket last week end was by Wilfred Ward, son of Mr. H. Ward, Sanitary Inspector to the Wombwell U.D.C., of 212 Hough Lane, Wombwell.

Playing for Wombwell Main, he scored 65 not out in what is described as one of the most attractive innings seen on the ground. Ward showed great skill and an exceptional variety of strokes. His first seven hits were fours. The previous week he scored 42 against the League champions, Darfield, and has previously scored 52 not out this season. He is a useful charge bowler.

He rejoined Wombwell Main this season after a spell in the Chapeltown League with Hemingfield, with whom he won the club bowling average.
