No Milk for Twelve Months.

August 1918

Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Thursday 15 August 1918

No Milk for Twelve Months.

At the monthly meeting of the Wombwell Urban Council, Mr. J. W. Mellor, proposing that the Food Control Committee be asked to put into operation the Milk Requisition Order, 1917, said there were hundreds of people in Wombwell, who had had no milk for twelve months.

It was pointed out that any attempt to requisition the milk and distribute it would probably result in the town’s supplies being cut off by the outside producers.

The resolution was withdrawn, and it was agreed that the Food Control Committee should discuss the question of distribution with the milk dealers.
