New Headmaster.
Tynesider for Middle School At Wombwell.
As headmaster of the new Middle School, to opened at Wombwell in April, the West Riding Education Authority, in conjunction with the local education Committee, have appointed Mr. Walter Mayhew, B.Sc., of Bilston, Staffs.
Mr. Mayhew, who is 33 years of age, a native of Tyneside, and was educated the Secondary School, Gateshead. He took his B.Sc. degree at Armstrong College, Durham University.
Since 1923, has been second master at Bilston Central School and science master at that school since 1920. He is also principal of the Darlaston Technical School.
During the war he served in the Naval Air Force as instructor in signalling and wireless telegraphy. Mr. Mayhcw is at present a member of the Board Assessors for Staffordshire County Junior Technical examinations, an examiner in mathematics and science for the Staffordshire Intermediate Art Scholarships, treasurer of the South Staffordshire Central School Teachers’ Association, and a member the Executive the National Association of Teachers in Central Schools.
The new school being erected in the King’s road district will one the best equipped and most up-to-date buildings of the kind in the Riding.
