New Curate

The Rev E.C. Corke M.A. (camb), who, as announced in the “Times” recently, has been appointed by the Rector of Wombwell, Canon J.St Leger, Blakeney, as curate in charge of St George’s, Jump in succession to the Rev R.J.Jones, who went to a Sheffield parish some months ago, was a curate under Mr Blakeney at St Barnabas, Sheffield, and in 1926 left with him to go to Macclesfield.

Since 1928 he has been sub-warden of Aberlour (Banff Shire ) Orphanage and private chaplain to the Duke of Richmond and Gordon.

Mr Corke is a son of the vicar of Swindon, near Cheltenham, and an ex service man.

He was ordained by the Bishop of Sheffield in 1924.

He will take up his new duties early in May.
