Mitchell’s Down
Elsecar Triumph In Low Scoring Match
On a bowlers wicket and handicapped through the absence of three or four of their selected players, Mitchell Main were beaten in low scoring match by Elsecar.
They had to bring in Don Oates and H Hickling from the second team, we also found recruits in J render, who had been goalkeeper for Mitchell Main this season, and Richard Brown, a son of the rector of Darfield, was on vacation from Dean close School Cheltenham.
Both sides collapsed after a strong opening, but it against Elsecar’s 91, Mitchell Main mustered only 72.
Only five players out of the 22 mustered double figures, and only six scored over five runs.
E Evans (picture) and E Hughes bowled very consistently, for six wickets for 34 runs and three for 41 respectively.
