Mr. E. Wainwright, B.E.M. “Named” for Dearne Valley
Mr. Edwin Wainwright (51), B.E.M., of 7, Kingsway, Wombwell, a member of Wombwell Urban Council and secretary of Darfield Main branch of the N.U.M. has been selected by the Yorkshire Miners’ Union as their nominee for the Labour candidature in the Dearne Valley Parliamentary Division.
M r. Wainwright has served for many years as agent to the Right Hon. Wilfred Paling, who hasĀ represented the Division (formerly Wentworth) in Parliament since 1933 and for 11 years before that (represented the Doncaster Division. Mr Paling has intimated that he will not seek re-election.
Nominations for the candidature will close on August 25th and the final selection will be made by the management committee of the Divisional Executive at a meeting to be held at Wath Grammar School on September 13th.
