As a result of a long-standing accident, which occurred whilst following his occupation as a ripper at Wombwell Main Colliery, John William Spencer (45)., of 101, Wombwell Lane, near Barnsley died at the Royal Infirmary, Sheffield, after an, operation.

At the inquest held yesterday by the Sheffield City Coroner, evidence was lacking as to the exact manner in which the man met with his injury, which consisted of a badly damaged cartilage.

A verdict of ” Accidental death ” was returned
