Mike Wins Sir Jack Hobbs Scholarship

Sixteen-years-old Wombwell High School pupil, Mike Savage, of 7, John Street, Wombwell, is this year’s winner of Wombwell Cricket Lovers Society’s “Sir Jack Hobbs Memorial Scholarship” as the most promising lad at the Society’s winter coaching classes.

Mike is a wicketkeeper-batsman and his reward from the Society is a free week’s holiday on a cricket coaching course at Scarborough. The Society have also nominated him to Yorkshire C.C.C. for advanced coaching along with other local lads already nominated by the Society.
