Midland League
Denaby’s Game Effort
Leaders Hard Pressed
Mexboro’s Double
Denaby’s great effort to get the better of the leaders was the “high light” of the weekend from the South Yorkshire point of view. A spirited second half display all but gave them the points, but a late equaliser enabled Grimsby to share.
This was Denaby’s second draw in three days, though they had previously only drawn three league games throughout the season. Mexboro’ managed to complete the double over Wombwell by a solitary goal and Frickley did quite well to bring a point from Gainsboro’, their third from the club this season.
Denaby’s draw with Notts. County was satisfactory in view of the unpleasant weather conditions which made football difficult, and Grimsby’s win over Bradford City and draw at Denaby greatly enhanced their championship prospects.
