Wombwell Threats Charge Fails

An incident in the waiting room of Barnsley West Riding Juvenile Court led to Jessie Mattocks of High Street, Wombwell, charging Ida Creswell of Kelvin Grove, Wombwell, at Barnsley Borough Juvenile Court yesterday with using threats.

For complainant, Mr. L. Wagstaffe said on July 7th, Mrs. Mattocks was sitting in the waiting room when Mrs. Creswell pulled her husband to one side and pointing at Mrs. Mattocks said, “That ____ thing is still there.”  Mrs. Mattocks said she did not wany any bother and defendant started pulling off her gloves saying “Come outside, I’ll show you what to do.”

A police officer told Mrs. Creswell to leave and she said she would wait for Mrs. Mattocks coming out.  Mrs. Mattocks had cause to be in bodily fear of defendant.

Mr. W. Winter, defending, said there was no evidence in support of the threats. It was merely an invitation to go out and fight, and Mrs. Cresswell did not wait outside

The case was dismissed.
