Local Men at County Nets
George Hirst is commencing work with the young players the county will be selecting for coaching at the Yorkshire CC C nets. Amongst them are some players from this district.
Bernard Senior (photo) came fully to the fore in local cricket last season by his notable and consistent work in the Mexborough League competition. Then he distinguished himself in evening league cricket, and finally in the Yorkshire Council fame with Mexborough. He is a son of Jim Senior, one of the stalwarts of cricket in the Wombwell area and still a formidable Mexborough League bowler for Mitchell Main.
Arthur Vollans is an old boy of the Mexborough Secondary School and is at present at college in training for the teaching profession. As already had a good deal of experience with Denaby in the Yorkshire Council. His batting and fielding in particular and what him out of the last two or three season as one of the more promising youngsters in this district.
