Jump Miner Drowned In Canal

An inquest was held at the Town Hall, Hoyland, yesterday, into the death of James Cookson Crossley, miner, of 4. Otley Square, Jump.

Crossley was last seen alive by his father-in-law on Sunday.

On Tuesday morning about 9 o’clock some boys saw a cap on the bank of the canal, and at once informed police.

P.c.’s Brown and Hewitt dragging and recovered the body.

Crossley was a married man, and been unemployed for nine months, but recently commenced work at Wath Main.

A verdict of “Suicide while of unsound mind” was recorded
