John Street School Boys Choir Success

Hitherto community singing had not scored many points in Wombwell, but when the John Street School Boys Choir were introduced to lead the chorus on the Hough Lane ground on Saturday it proved a great success.

Some people appear to have the impression that with mass singing volume is everything and quality nothing, but this performance proves that just the opposite is the case. Seated in the front seats of the stand, the boys sang very sweetly indeed, and their voices could be heard above all the clamour. Band and choir were in perfect harmony, and the result was a delight to the ears.
