Jack’s the Boy for Mitchell’s
Jack Harston, ex-Barnsley footballer, came back to form with a bang for Mitchell Main on Saturday, getting an unbeaten 113 in the match against Dearne Athletic at Dearne. The score included 20 fours.
A popular figure at Mitchell Main, Jack has never hitherto struck his real form this season. Incidentally he has recently gone into business as a newsagent at Kendray, Barnsley, but still retains his post as electrician at Mitchell Main.
Another of Mitchell Main’s footballers, Albert Moore, got a 43 in this match, while veteran Jack Wrote contributed 32. Though he must have had over 20 years in local cricket, Jack is hitting as fiercely as ever – he hit a six and three fours.
Dearne replied with 105, C. Sage having a six and four fours in his 31. Roy Cooling took 4 for 18, W. Lilley 2 for 4 and Wroe 3 for 32.
