Hull and the Yorkshire Coal Trade

From the official return of the quantity of coal sent into Hull it appears that during last month 30,168 tons were sent, as compared with 104,056 tons during January, 1882, or a decrease of 1,938 tons. The largest tonnage from any single colliery was sent from Denaby Main, the quantity being 12,332, as against 12,624 tons in January, 1882. Next on the list comes Allerton Main with 6,398 tons, as compared with 8,561 tons for the corresponding month in 1882. Fryston sent 5,355 tons, as against 5,256 tons; Shireoak 4,572 tons, as compared with 8,848 tons; Wheatley Silkstone 4,831 tons, as against 4,040 tons in January, 1882.

  • Fryston – 5,355 tons

  • Shireoak – 4,572 tons

  • Wheatley Silkstone – 4,831 tons

  • Wath Riding – 4,271 tons

  • Manvers Main – 4,232 tons

  • Elsecar – 4,110 tons

  • Thrybergh Hall – 3,658 tons

  • Wheldale – 2,625 tons

  • Altofts Bwarras – 2,850 tons

  • Huddersfield Victoria – 2,148 tons

  • Whinfield – 2,042 tons

  • Carlton Main – 1,960 tons

  • Monk Bretton – 1,882 tons

  • Roundwood – 1,611 tons

  • Lundhill – 1,520 tons

  • Houghton Main – 1,472 tons

  • Mitchell Main – 1,312 tons

  • Glass Houghton – 1,304 tons

  • Aldwarke Main – 1,576 tons

  • Kiveton Park – 506 tons
