Lewis Barber

The present Halifax goalkeeper, in their Third Division games, is Lewis Barber, the Broomhill man, who formally played with Broomhill P. M. And Broomhill W.M.C. clubs  in the Barnsley Sunday School and Nelson league competitions respectively.

He was on Wombwell’s books a couple of seasons ago but they were not sufficiently impressed to make good use of him. Two seasons ago when he went to Halifax for a month’s trial he found more appreciative judges and was later fixed up by that club. He is now their regular keeper and he is considered one of the finest men in this position in the Northern Section of the Third Division of the Football League.

On Saturday he gave a brilliant display in Halifax’s match with Crewe. He his still only 23 years old, but is a young giant of 6 feet and is a serious student of the game, and takes pains to keep himself physically fit.
