Midland League

Another Win by Mexboro’ Over Boston.

Mexborough  3  Boston Town  0

Mexborough, who took two points from Boston earlier in the season, repeated their performance at Mexborough yesterday. Playing against the slope, they were placed ahead by Reed after 37 minutes.

In the second half Ingham scored in good style, and Walker completed some splendid work by Reed. Boston’s play was quite clever at times, and their forwards, combining well, carried out a number’ of very threatening assaults; but at the critical moment they were always a second too late.

Grimsby Town Res  2  Wombwell  0

Grimsby Town Reserves beat Wombwell in a rearranged Midland League fixture at Grimsby, yesterday by 2–0. Casson scored both goals, the first a very fine one—in the first half, during which Wombwell were quite outplayed. Johnson, in goal, brought off some capital saves. Smith, the home left-winger, struck the upright, and Talks headed against the crossbar.

In the second half Grimsby did nearly all the pressing again, but the forwards were weak in front of goal.
