Golden Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ernest Clarkson of 78 Barnsley Road, Wath, celebrated their Golden Wedding on Saturday with a family party at their home.  Mr. Clarkson is 72 and his wife, who was formerly Miss Elizabeth Bristow of West Melton, 68.

They have lived in the Wath district all their lives and were married at Brampton Parish Church.  On Saturday 60 guests were entertained to tea in the schoolroom of Princess Street, Wesleyan Methodist Church, where Mrs. Clarkson has been a life-long member.

For 50 years until his retirement at the age of 65, Mr. Clarkson worked at Wath Main Colliery, and was for 23 years a deputy.  The couple have two sons and two daughters, who were all present at the party, with their wives and husbands, except Sig. Arthur E. Lumb, their eldest daughter’s husband, who is in France.

Also present was Mrs W. H. Firth, of Tunstall Cross, Wombwell, who was Mrs. Clarkson’s bridesmaid 50 years ago.
