Mr. and Mrs. T. Thornton.

Mr. Thornton was born at Stainforth 74 years ago. Mrs. Thornton, whose maiden name was Mary Blackburn. is a native of Hemingfield, where her family have been settled for generations.

At one time her flather was a farmer at Smithley. She is two years younger than her husband.

For many years the couple lived in Blythe Street and Bartholomew Street, Wombwell, moving into the Huddersfield district to be near their daughters who were working in the mills.

In his younger days Mr. Thornton was employed at Wombwell main and Houghton Main and is now an engine tenter for a firm of woollen manufacturer.

Both enjoy excellent health. The couple have four sons and four daughters, one of the daughters having lived in America for twenty years. Their only great-grandchild was one of fifty guests present at the celebrations.
