Gilchrist Lectures
The fact that a series of Gilchrist lectures is to be given in Wombwell early next year it’s fairly well known but the value of these lectures is not perhaps sufficiently understood.
For several years the Wombwell Urban Council have thee pressing the Gilchrist Educational Trust for them, and their perseverance has born fruit.
The lectures fall under the Supervision of the Library Committee, whose chairman, Joseph Winder (picture) is very enthusiastic. He tells me the Lecture Committee have left no stone unturned to ensure the success of the lectures, and they are looking with confidence- for the support of the town.
Four hundred workers tickets at 1s. 6d. each and 100 reserved seat tickets at 5s. each will be issued, and will probably the disposed of before January 12th, the date of the first lecture.
The lectures are to be given in the Baths Hall.
