Gallant Wombwell Rescue.

Mr. J. A. Wright, an ex-soldier, of 31, Blythe Street, Wombwell, was cycling down Station Road, Wombwell, when he noticed a child struggling in the and Dove Canal.

Throwing down his cycle rushed to the spot.

In the meantime Joseph Connelly (14), Darfield Main, had plunged into the water fully dressed and effected a gallant rescue.

Mr. Wright helped with the rescued child to the side, where the latter was restored to consciousness artificial respiration.
