Four Generations

Branch of an Old Wombwell Family

The four generations in this picture are Mrs. Charlotte Harrison (72), her daughter Mrs. Florence Hesketh of Park Street, Wombwell; her grandson, Mr. W. R. H. Hesketh, of 1, Becknoll Road, Brampton, and her great-grandson, Malcolm Hesketh (4). All are numbered among our readers.

Mrs. Florence Hesketh is wife of Mr. Harry Hesketh, hairdresser and one time famous sprinter. His father, the late Mr. William Hesketh, was at one time an official at Darfleld Main Colliery and a member of the old local board at Wombwell. In 1901 Mr. Hesketh held the Yorkshire Championship at a hundred yards, and in the same year ran on the tracks of the United States for six months.

Mr. W. R. H. Hesketh is well-known as a local preacher and a leading figure in the local Wesleyan Reform circuit.
