Four Generations at Wombwell

Mrs. Annis Mitchell, of 18, Copeland Road, Wombwell, the head of the four generations seen in this picture, can say with perfect safety, and also with perfect sincerity, that ,six-months-old . David Linley, the youngest of then group, is her favourite great-grandchild; in fact, the only one. It has been a race between a Golden Wedding for Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell and the arrival of a great-grandchild, and little David has won.

All four persons represented in this family “ladder ” take the ” Times.” Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell have read the paper for forty years at least, and little David has got to the stage of gurgling at pictures and tearing paper up.

The other two persons on the group are Mrs. Mitchell’s daughter, Mrs. Lily Coe, of Hemingfleld Road, Wombwell, and her grand-daughter, Mrs. Linley, of Summer Lane Extension, Wombwell
