A Wombwell Clan

Four generations are represented in this picture.  The old couple seated are Mr. and Mrs. William Evans, aged 74 and 72, of 10 Pickup Crescent, Wombwell, standing at the back are their son, Mr. Edward Evans, 54, Main Street, Wombwell, a deputy at Darfield Main and his son, Mr. William Evans of Stanley near Wakefield.   The baby is Peter (William’s son), aged fourteen months.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Evans are well-known in Wombwell, having lived in the town the whole of their married life.  Last year they celebrated their golden wedding.  Mr. Evans is a native of North Staffordshire, and when he retired four or five years ago, he had been employed in the mines sixty years. Both are in good health.
