The death occurred on Friday at the age of 74, of Mrs. Annie Littlewood, wife of Mr. Charles Littlewood, of 62, Wombwell Main.

The interment took place at Wombwell Cemetery on Monday, the Rector of Wombwell, Canon J. St. Leger Blakeney. Conducting the service.

Mrs Littlewood was born at West Melton, but had lived at Wombwell Main over 40 years and had occupied the same house 33 years, bringing up a family of 7 children, six daughters and one son, all pliving in the neighbourhood.

Mr. Littlewood was employed as a deputy at Lundhill and Wombwell Main Collieries, under the same company for over twenty years.

Mrs. Littlewood was an ever-present help in cases of hardship and need at Wombwell Main and has been held in high regard in the neighbourhood.

Her death was hastened by a fall as she was preparing Christmas dinner – and at the inquest – at the Methodist Schools, Cemetery Road on Monday, the District Coroner (Mr. C. J. Haworth) returned a verdict of “Accidental Death.”

Dr. W. C. Jardine, Mrs. Bond (a daughter), Mrs. J. Littlewood (daughter-in-law), and Mrs. Turton (a neighbour) gave evidence.
