Examination Success

Mr Jack Finney (20), son of Mr and Mrs F Finney, of 5 Thompson Road Wombwell, a member of the staff of the Health Department at the Town  Hall, gained the certificate of the Royal Sanitary Institute and Sanitary Inspectors’ Association Joint Board. The success was achieved in examination in London last week.

Mr. Finney won a County Minor scholarship from John Street Council School, Wombwell, and matriculated to Barnsley Grammar School.

For three and a half years he has been a clerk in the department of the Medical Officer (Dr. J. C. Pickup) and Sanitary Inspector (Mr. H. Ward) of the Wombwell U.D.C. He has been attending the Central Commercial College attached to Sheffield University.

Some time ago he gained a national certificate in building issued by the Barnsley Technical School. He is well known in local football circles as a player for Wright Crescent F.C.
