Dartmoor Escape

After an all-night search, no trace hbad been found to-day of Thomas Hutchinson Eyre, Wombwell, who escaped from Dartmoor Prison. Police have scoured the moor and patrolled roads from the prison.

Eyre (21) was sentenced to four years’ for housebreaking and larceny at Leeds Assizes on March 28. His wife, who has baby son four months old, living with her mother at Wombwell.

When Eyre broke from working party the prison garden and scaled the garden wall, he was seen to make off in the direction of Two Bridges. He eluded a cordon of police and warders.
