Council’s Appeal To Miners.

The Wombwell Council in their anxiety to remove the great inconvenience arising out of the complete failure of the public gas supply, have addressed an appeal to the Yorkshire Miners’ Association for assistance to obtain further coal supplies.

The Yorkshire Miners’ Association have replied that in the circumstances they can afford the Council no help in their dilemma.

Wombwell’s gas supply ran out a week ago, and as Darfield obtains its gas from the Wombwell Council under an arrangement that township is similarly afflicted.

In view of the increase of 6s. per ton in the price of coal, the Council has increased the price of gas by 6d. per 1,000 feet.
