“Times” Report Confirmed

The rumoured resignation of Mr. Stanley B. Cattell from the Labour group  Wombwell Urban District Council, reported in the “Times” last week, was confirmed at meeting of the Wombwell U.D.C. on Tuesday when Mr. Cattell gave his explanation.     Mr. Cattell has represented the South West Ward at Wombwell for five years and has another twelve months to serve before his second period of office expires. For that period at any rate, he intends to retain his seat on the council. He has not resigned from the Labour Party.

Mr. Cattell is a son of the late Mr. A. Cattell, Welsh International Rugby footballer, former Sheffield City Alderman, for 27 years a member of the Sheffield City Council, and a leading Conservative. Mr. Cattell came to Wombwell as a teacher and in the Great War served as a commissioned officer in the Machine Gun Corps. He was headmaster at, Jump Council School for twelve years before being appointed head at King’s Road six years ago.
