MR. DOUGLAS LEE was born in York Street, Wombwell, 42 years ago and has never lived more than a hundred yards away from his birthplace.

His father, Mr. Tom Lee, who lives in the ward that Mr. Lee will represent, was a pioneer of the cycle and motor trade in the Dearne Valley and one of the first to run a service of motor ‘buses between Wombwell and Barnsley.

After being associated in business with his father, Mr. Douglas Lee started on his own account as radio and motor engineer seven years ago and is now one of Wombwell’s foremost tradesmen.

Three years ago he moved from Barnsley Road to Central Garage, High Street, which he acquired from E. and G. Charlesworth. He is a keen sportsman, particularly fond of motoring.

He married a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Jackson, Park Street, Wombwell, and has four children. His two boys are associated with the busines
