It was children’s day at Mitchell Main cricket ground yesterday, Mitchell and Darfield Main Miners Welfare holding their sports meeting for members children.

Entry to the 17 events was free and prizes were awarded so that it was not surprising that there was a large entry.

This proved to be a record for the five years the sports have been held, over 200 children competing.

The weather was fine and many parents watch some keen racing.
