Candidate for Unitarian Ministry

The many Wombwell friends of Mr Fred Sokell, of Haugh, near Rotherham have had the pleasure of renewing acquaintance with him during his vacation from Oxford.

Mr. Sokell has been accepted as a candidate for the Unitarian ministry and has just completed his first year’s study at Manchester College

He has achieved notable success so far.

He is a son of the late Mr. Herbert Sokell of Wombwell and he was employed for many years at Wombwell Main Colliery.

Six years ago he moved to New Stubbin Colliery and during his vacation from Oxford has returned to his normal occupation as a colliery deputy. Mr. Sokell has been a local preacher in the Wath Wesleyan Circuit for twenty years.
