Burning Pit Dump at Darfield

Conditions arising from burning slag heap at Darfield Main Colliery, said to be not more than 100 yards from inhabited houses, were discussed by Darfield Urban Council last night.

The Medical Officer (Dr J. W. Whitworth) said the colliery company welcomed any suggestion with a view to putting the fire out.

The Medical Officer was instructed to take the matter up with the colliery company. T

The Council appointed Mr. Cyril Gray as Surveyor and Sanitary Inspector at £300 per annum to succeed Mr. S. E. Whitehead, who has resigned.
