Broomhill’s Captain & Mainstay

6 May 1932

Mexborough and Swinton Times, May 6th, 1932

Herbert Rawson, Broomhill’s captain, who received the cup from Mr. F. Smith as vice-president of the Barnsley Football Union, played one of the best games of his career and received an ovation from the crowd.

Rawson has been a mainstay of Broomhill for several years and has only been kept out of better class football owing to an injury to his knee.

He had had trials with Halifax and other clubs.

Broomhill have the distinction of being the first club in the Wombwell area to win the Nelson League.
