Broomhill 1 Carlton Welfare 0
Broomhill did well to beat Carlton Welfare 1-0 in the replayed Nelson League semi-final on the Dearne ground last Thursday. It was a keen game but Broomhill just deserved to win.
Alf Gummerson (picture) played a great game for Broomhill on both occasions. He was born in the village and has played with the club since he left school.
Recently Gummerson went to reside at Doncaster but never lost touch with his old club, and turns out for them whenever possible. He is considered one of the best halves Broomhill have ever had.
